Whole Foods Concept
Conceptual competition entry for the redesign of Whole Foods re-imagines the role of a truly sustainable neighborhood market. Features include two stories of residential lofts above Whole Foods, underground parking, and a brick plaza farmers’ market complete with fountain and PV array arcade. Sustainable features include an entry tower feature for vertical circulation made of translucent solar panels, an expanded scope of work that adds green roofs and elevated PV arrays to all surrounding buildings, and the diversion of harvested rainwater from the roof into a four-story vertical greenhouse in the center of the building to supply fresh produce to the store.
